The Design
This design was actually inspired by my other tree topper pattern, the Snow Drift Tree Topper, but this pattern is much more flexible. If you're not in the holiday makin' mood, I've included custom sizing instructions you can use to make so much more than just a tree topper out of this pattern and star motif. Once you understand the construction and stitching sequence, you can use any weight yarn you'd like and make:
pillows
a rug
gift tags
ornaments
wall hangings
garland
coasters
a crib mobile
appliqués
etc.

Fit + Sizing
One Size: 10" diameter at widest point
I've included 2 sets of instructions for this pattern: one for DK weight yarn and one for worsted weight yarn (with instructions on how to customize the size so you can make whatever size you want with whatever yarn weight you want).
Materials
As written, you'll need:
approximately 228yds of category 3 DK weight yarn or 144yds of category 4 worsted weight yarn
Other materials you'll need:
4mm (for DK version) or 5mm (for worsted version) crochet hook
tapestry needle
scissors
Yarn:
I used WeCrochet Dishie, which is labeled as a category 4 worsted weight yarn; however, I think it's closer to a DK, so I made the DK version with this yarn. I love this yarn for this project because it's daintier than a true worsted weight yarn, so I feel it really gives this project an elevated look. It's also soft, but sturdy, making it perfect for an item you need or want to hold its shape well.
